 Hackathons Shaped My Developer Journey

When I joined my first hackathon, I had no idea how much it would impact my path as a developer. What started as a weekend challenge turned into a transformative experience that sharpened my skills, expanded my network, and redefined how I approach problem-solving.

Hackathons taught me how to **think fast and build faster**. With limited time and a team of strangers, I learned to prioritize features, communicate clearly, and contribute under pressure. It's one thing to write code at your own pace — it's another to collaborate on a live prototype in 24 to 48 hours.

Beyond coding, I gained something even more valuable: **connections**. I met passionate developers, designers, and mentors — many of whom I still talk to today. Some became friends, others became professional contacts who helped open doors later.

Hackathons are also an incredible way to **stay updated on tech trends**. Whether it's AI, blockchain, or sustainable tech, you're exposed to new tools, APIs, and challenges that push you to grow. I often came out of a hackathon with a list of resources to explore for weeks.

What surprised me the most was how much I could learn in so little time. Every hackathon is a crash course in teamwork, creativity, and resilience. Even when things didn’t go as planned — bugs, crashes, or missed deadlines — I walked away stronger and more motivated.

If you’ve never joined one, I highly recommend it. It’s not about winning — it’s about **learning, building, connecting**, and realizing what you're truly capable of under pressure. Hackathons shaped me not just as a developer, but as a confident problem solver ready to take on real-world challenges.
